Wisconsin Gazette: “Time To Tackle Gun Control”

Madison’s Wisconsin Gazette in an uncredited squib, opines it is time to tackle gun control., Very good, anyone who looks over the Alley, and virtually ever other gun magazine or gun blog knows the shooting community, America’s most law abiding demographic, favors “doing something about gun control.

But after that hopeful start, the great writer A. Nonny Muss, goes downhill almost instantly. Instead of a rational discussion of the facts, and particularly how gun control has affected the good people of Wisconsin, Muss starts quoting propaganda.

Briefly quoting Mr. Muss’ squib, linked above:

The people of Aurora, Colo., had just begun returning to normalcy after the July 20 massacre at a cinema there when Milwaukeeans were hit with the news that a hate attack on a Sikh temple in Oak Creek had left six worshippers near the Texas A&M University campus, killing two and wounding four before he was gunned down by police.

If Mr. Muss had done anything like basic research, he would know James Egan Holmes was free to travel to the only venue that bans guns showing the then latest Batman movie. The University of Colorado’s school psychiatrist had made an urgent call to the Boulder Police, requesting an urgent commitment of Mr. Holmes – on the basis he was, and likely is, a psychopath on the verge of a violent act.

And as far as Milwaukee’s risk of becoming a crime victim, yes it is substantial. According to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report Milwaukee’s violent crime rate is 1597 per 100,000 population, or more than four times the national average, making Milwaukee one of the most violent cities in the U.S.

And just how did Milwaukee, which used to b one of America’s safest cities get in this condition.
Gun control. The chart immediately below shows the results of Wisconsin’s restrictive gun laws since 1963, when the entertainment industry began a gun ban campaign.

This is the same pattern of increased violence as gun restrictions are progressively tightened seen in every other venue with restrictive gun laws, from placarded gun free zones to nations with over a billion citizens.

Gun control has failed utterly to reduce crime or make anyone safer for 521 years. It is enough for Mr. Muss and all his extended family to shut up and join us in restricting the criminals who steal our guns, traffic them to places like Milwaukee and sell them for pennies on the dollar.

Because the cost in loves lost, lives destroyed, property lost, increased security, expanded law enforcement, and the cost of imprisoning many times as many convicts is far too great to do otherwise.
