Why Should Congress Preempt State and Local Gun Laws?

A Coloradan came by searching for “why preempt state gun laws.”

Congress should preempt State and local gun laws so the american People will only have to obey one set of laws instead of more than 13,500 such laws.

Driving through the heartland can expose you to as many as 32 gun law packages in less than 500 miles, or a different set of laws every dozeen miles. There is no way you can know what is lawful and what is not. While gun owners are the most law abiding American demographic that raate would be even higher iif gun owners only had to worry about one set of gun laws instead of dozens of different laws every days drive.

Secondly, iif Congress ssets the limits on gun laws, Congress can choose to permit laws with a history of success, such as “must possess a gun” laws, and reject ineffective laws such as gun bans.

So Congressional preemption would allow Congress to mandate a simple and uniform set of gun laws nation wid, with only effective laws allowed. And those are the only sort of laws that should be considered.
