Why Do People Take Up A Criminal Lifestyle

I spent some time yesterday talking to a psychologist friend about Dr. Stanton Samenow’ and his work on human criminality.

My friend’s opinion is the same as mine. While there are points we do not fully agree with – there are neighborhoods in Baltimore and Chicago where you either belong to the gang or you do not live – Dr. Samenow’s work is excellent.

Dr. Samenow provides a fascinating insight into the minds of those who terrorize our communities.

    We used to use Dr. Samenow’s techniques when I worked in juvenile corrections residential treatment in MN in the late 90’s. Challenging thinking errors was effective in changing behavior, but unfortunately the young men usually went back to a very chaotic and toxic environment and reverted back to criminal ways.
