What Do The English Think Of Their High Crime Rate?”

Someone I had not heard from for a long time aks “What to the English think of thei crime rate?”

So far as I can determine the English are like the Scots, Welsh, Cousin Jack’s, and the rest of the British ethnic gourps. They look at the numbers and do not believe them.

I don’t believe them either, but I know the British police only report “credible reports of crimes,” while the Brits generally cannot understand how crime reported crime rates can be that high when there are so few reports in the media.

In reality, crime is so common it takes an extraordinary case to be interest the public. The last time I looked, violent crimes we rates were given as 28 per 1,000 population, which is the same as 2,800 per 100,000 population.

Meaning some number between 2,750 and 2,849 violent crimes reported to and accepted by the police per 100,000 population.

More significantly, the rate of increase of various crimes in England and Wales was given as…

… as essentially a one percent rise in violent crime rates every two weeks. And while that is the official rate, I also know that a high percentage of reported crimes are “not considered credible,” so the actual rate is far worse than that.
