What Are The Odds The Next Gun Control Law Will Succeed

“Colton” says she does not understand the explanation of the probability the next restrictive gun law will fail because she has never heard of numbers that take more than 5,600 pages to print.

Well, a “googolplex” consisting of the number 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,
000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. multiplied by itself 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, 000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,
000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.

Obviously, a googolplex is quite a large number. But the probability the next restrictive gun law will drive up violent crime rates makes a googolplex look like a Post-It note on a large desk.

  1. LeeKee says:

A googolplex is a googol raised to the googol power. A googol is 1 followed by 100 zeros.
A googol of googols all multiplied together gives a googolplex. I remember Carl Sagan talking about that a few years ago.

  2. Stranger says:

Well, I learned my numbers so long a go that a gooogol 1 + C zeros. But there were no zeros, so a googol would have been IXXXX> with 100 X’s; while a googolplex would be an I XXXXX with 10,000 X’, or 1,000 C’s. Latin or Arabic, a googolplex is a “quite respectable number.”
