The Three Critical Statistics On Gun Control

A Letter to the Editor boosting gun ban legislation also points out there are more statistics in the gun control issue than the ones usually making the news.

In reaality, there are only three critical statistics concerning gun control. Assuming nothing, those numbers are…

1.) The number of years since the first gun control law.

2.) The number of gun control laws that have been put in place over the span of years from statistic 1.

3.) The percentage of gun control laws that have reduced crime, man less ;ole;u to suffer criminal predation, or increase the time between politically motivated assassinations.

Here in the real world the answers to the three questions are, in order

1.) 1495, or 523 years in August.

2.) More than 57,789 known restrictive gun laws, or 110.9 a year for 522 years

3. Of the 57,789 such laws that can be shown to have been on the books on 12/31/2017 the closest thing to a successful gun control law has been those that were never enforced and resulted in no change to the long term trend. Therefor the success rate of restrictive gun laws is 0%, and obviously the failure rate is 100%.

Since gun control does not work, why would any sane and informed person want to extend “The longest series of bloody failures in human history?”

the answer seems obvious enough, the goal is not crime control but people control.
