Adolph Hitler is widely quoted as saying ““If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.” That is close enough to what Hitler did say, but Hitler was not the first to say something like that. Napoleon said something very similar, but in his native French. Others, as far back as history runs have made similar observations:
Tell a big enough like and tell it often enough, and it will be believed.
At the moment, gun control advocates are endlessly repeating three big lies.
BIG LIE 1.) That we are currently experiencing a massive increase in gun related violent crime.
Yet the United States Bureau of Justice Statistics massive annual survey of violent crime finds the rate of violent criminal victimization in 2015, was the lowest in had been in 110 years.
The 2016 report is not due until October, but the latest data we have shows that in 1993 Americans reported 785,000 firearms related criminal victimizations to the police. Here is the long term trend from the Bureau of Justice Statistics:
In 2015 that total was just 362,000, including 167,000 “aggravated assaults,” in which a firearm was present. That is a 52% decline in gun related violent crime in 22 years, over the strenuous objections of the gun control crowd.
Obviously then, the gun control advocates big like that we are in a period of rising crime rates – outside the area where their gun control campaigns are driving violent crime rates up is a lie.
BIG LE 2) Gun control advocates are fond of claiming that the number of gun related criminal victimizations, crimes committed against people, are rising. The rebuttal for Big Lie 1 also rebuts that lie, but the Bureau of Justice Statistics has a bit more to add:
(adding fatal victimizations would raise the line by one fifth the width of the trace)
So now we have two of the gun control advocates big lies laid out for inspection. The government agency tasked with keeping track of collating and publishing crime trends, including crimes that are not reported to the police, clearly shows those two lies are just propaganda. Big lies endlessly repeated so people will believe them.
And that brings us to
BIG LIE 3.) Te third lie is that restrictive gun laws cut crime. Gun control has a 521 year history of complete and abject failure to reduce crime, make anyone safer, or in fat to do anything a sane human would consider good if they knew and believed the facts.
But if you ask one of the gun control advocates where gun control has cut crimes, you will either be ignored, given some vague answer such as “plenty of places,” or told “England.” England, whose people are more than seven times as likely as an American to be a victim of a violent crime this year.
Not only has gun control failed to reduce crime or make anyone safer, the restrictive gun laws called gun control have been the first step in the brutal murder of more than 262 million innocent people by their own government.
That count does not include those killed by criminals preying on disarmed people, nor does it include entire towns whose people were exterminated without a chance to resist.
So again, we see propaganda’s big lie at work. Those three lies are the basis of the endless gun control propaganda we see daily.
Add downplaying the results of gun registration that let malign regimes round up guns and gun owners and you have virtually the entire foundation of 21st Century gun control campaigns.
A campaign that increased the United States murder total by almost 1,000 between 2014 and 2015, and possibly twice that between 2015 and 2015.
If we are to survive, we must be aware of the lies and the tactics of those who would render us unable to resist a totalitarian government.
And that job starts by carefully selecting candidates to replace anti-gun officeholders, as well as dropping anti-gun publications and avoiding heir advertisers.
