Noted: Something To Consider When…

Way off topic, but this is something too consider the next time you are tempted to hold a position alongside an 18 wheeler.

A friend and his family were killed when the trailer tires blew, turning a trailer over on his car in just that way. As a result, I pass the big rigs quickly, let off the throttle to let them pass quickly, and stay a respectful distance back when I’m using an 18 as a “front door.”

One Response to Noted: Something To Consider When…

    Funny you should mention that.
Just last week my wife and I were on the Interstate, in the left lane, slowly passing a semi, when I saw two trees fall into the semi’s path from the adjoining woods. I had nowhere to go; I was being tailgated by an inattentive idiot and would have been rear-ended if I’d braked more than I did. Fortunately, only the very tops of the trees were in the semi’s path; he went right through them without apparent damage to his rig, and I sped up and got out of the way. I’ve never seen anything like that before in almost 50 years of driving, and I hope to never see it again.
By the way, this occurred in clear weather, with no wind.
