Iowa Democrats Leave State Capital Rather Than Debate Gun Bills

In a reminder that the Democratic Party is anti-gun, the Des Moines Register reports Democrats in the Iowa House left the Capital this morning rather than debate two gun bills.

The bills were Castle Doctrine bill that would allow Iowans to use necessary force to stop criminal predation, and the other is a constitutional amendment adding the right to keep and bear arms to the Iowa Constitution. Briefly quoting the Register item linked above:

n response, Democrats have moved to an undisclosed location. Republicans hold 60 of 100 seats and could debate the bill without Democrats since they have a quorum. The majority party sets the calendar for debate and guides the course of business on the House floor.

“We have been double-crossed as a caucus, and we’re not going to sit back and be treated with historic misuse of power,” McCarthy said.

This walkout by House Democrats comes just days after Jay Rodney Lewis was acquitted of using deadly force to defend himself against criminal aggression, a trial that cost Mr. Lewis almost everything he had.

Now, Iowa’s House Democrats are doing everything they can do to make it easy to prosecute victims of criminal aggression who fight back. How utterly shameful.
