Hell On Earth, A Gun Control Paradise

For more than twenty years, gun possession was illegal in this city. It took a Supreme Court decision to overturn that law, but little has changed. Between the Chicago City Council, the Chicago Police Department, and the the Cook county Sheriff’s office, it is difficult for a law abiding citizen to obtain an Illinois Permit to Purchase, a FOID card. Add minority status and it is nearly impossible for a Chicago resident to obtain a License to Carry.

So here is a recent snapshot of Chicago, where the armed gang members control the streets and the disarmed citizens cower in their homes:

So how many illegal guns are there in the hands of Chicago’s “crews?” More than half a million, perhaps a million.

What percentage of stolen guns are used to facilitate criminal victimization? Virtually all of them.

Where do they come from?? Every state in the nation, and Mexico, but with a strong preference for places along the I-55 corridor, which runs from Chocago to New Orleans and feeder highways such as I-10 and I-20.

Where do the guns come from? They are stolen, and then trafficked into Chicago in various ways. Many trafficked guns enter the city by way of O’Hare Field, as airline employees act as mules for stolen guns. Others come in lots of up to 100 guns concealed in loads of freight or in the back of some guy’s van or pickup.

How do you stop that? Persuade our criminal justice system that gun trafficking is a serous crime, and they should hand out serous penalties.

end the restrictive gun laws that let the gangs control the streets, and give control back t the law abiding.

Help the unskilled “can’t find a job” people find a job, if they must move to the fracking fields.

Encourage every unskilled and semi-skilled worker to develop salable skills – and to keep those skills one step ahead of the job market.

And clean up the city administration, because official corruption is a major art of the problem.

Given a few years, Chicago could become as quite a town as Bismarck – which was pretty quiet the last time I was there.

But the mob linked City administration has it pretty comfy, and is not likely to give up without a fight. So while it the Concil’s job to do, it is going to take Federal intervention.
