Parkfield High School Students want to stop school shootings. That should be good, because sso does the shooting community. All 190 million or so of us.
For example programs the NRA and the shooting community support cut Florida’s murder and violent crime rates by more than half between 1990 and 2013. And then the gun ban lobbies cranked up – and the results are in red in the chrt below::
But the problem is that we know what works and what does not. For one thing, our national organization, the National Rifle Association, is the largest police interest organization on Earth, with more police officers as members that most nations have police officers.
We ddo not waste time and lives pushing laws that have cost lives every time they have been ttried. Some of the proposals coming out of Florida have failed ten thousand times withouit a single success. You can bet a total ban on guns will not work any better than it did hte first ten thousand times it was tried.
Weith all due respect, the Students and their mentors in failure are pursuing a set of failed policies – proposed because thy have failed, not with hope of success.
Clearly, then,, the Students should protest for laws that will control violent cirme. But the course they have chosen does not lead to a polite society.
An armed society, in which a mass killer has little chance to satisfy his desire to spread death and destruction.
