Can A Misfire Save A Life? Apparently

Thanks to a link at The Gun Wire, I see MySanAntonio dot com reports a misfire may have saved a Fairbanks, Alaska, kidnapping and rape victim’s life.

Essentially, a man shot the victim’s boy friend, kidnapped and assaulted her, and then pointed the gun at her and pulled the trigger. Getting a click instead of a bang. Then, briefly quoting the MySanAntonio item linked above:

After the gun misfired, the man reportedly cleared the gun and turned it on himself. Police arrived not long after, and he was pronounced dead.

Dead is where he should be, so it is a case of good riddance to bad rubbish. But with the vanishingly small chance of a misfire, events like these are almost enough to make you believe in angels.
