You know the deal. You walk into a dark room and reach for the light switch. The light comes on, so you don’t trip over the furniture and wind up a basket case with a broken neck.
The California Legislature should know the deal as well. You send criminals to prison, and keep them there long enough, and the crime rate goes down. And then you say “since the crime rate’s down we can turn these criminals loose.” And in a relatively short time crime rates soar.
It has happened 29 times out of 29, enough to give us “six sigma” confidence that California would make it 30 out of 30. And anyone with even one functioning brain cell would be aware that crime rates are about to go sky high.
At a cost to the public in excess of a half million dollars a year for every non-violent offender and at least two and a half million dollars a year for every violent offender that hits the street.
Of course, the basic issue is money. Money the Legislature has – but has “better things to spend it on” than incarceration.
So the blame for the problem does not go to the Kallikak descendents infesting the Cali Statehouse. It goes to that convenient excuse, those eeeevillll guns!
So of course, the Legislature has no intention of building more cell blocks. Instead, they are going to make the once Golden State a destination point for gun thieves, ammo smugglers, and the like. And so the cycle are like the roads, which goes on forever.
Is it not time to vote a bunch of Kali’s
Kallikaks Democrats into retirement and put someone who can recognize a simple pattern in?
