Someone came by searching for “half of all people killed by assault weapon since ban ended.”
You can take that in two very different ways. If you mean that half of all Americans who have died since the so-called “assault weapons ban” expired in 2004, we are talking about eight years in a country that has more than 2,500,000 deaths a year. Eight times 2.5 million is 20 million, so the lying liar who twitted that line is talking about 10,000,000 – ten million – Americans shot to death since an imaginary ban on semi-automatic sport utility rifles expired. That number is simply absurd.
On the other hand, the statement could have been for “half of all the people who ever lived have been killed by an “assault weapon” since the “ban” expired in 2004. If so, that would be about 53 billion people, (52,000,000,000) which is far beyond reason.
And yes, I ran a search for the source. I found something very like that in an anti-gun blog out of our Pacific Northwest.

The quote came from Bill Clinton’s speech during CES today. How he goes from Samsung technology and the technology gap to gun control is a non-sequitur of epic proportions. Anyway, figured I’d help.
