True Enough: Children Who Die Of Abuse Are Often Uncounted and Unmourned

FOX News reports on efforts to get something done about the shocking number of children who die of abuse and neglect.

While any extensive discussion of the topic is off topic for this blog, the number of children who die quiet and miserable deaths from abuse and neglect is at least fifty percent higher than the combined number shot to death either deliberately or accidentally. Deliberately beating or starving a child is as much a crime as a bullet to the brain – and far more painful.

It is well past time for a civilized society to value society’s unwanted and unloved as highly as the fortunate children with loving parents and stable homes.
