Joyce Foundation Pulls Grant List – But Something’s Up

I see the anti-gun Joyce Foundation, one of the primary sources of funding for various gun control groups, has pulled its grant list from the internet. Oh well, there are other ways to find out where the money goes.

In the meantime, the Joyce Foundation has many previously announced “gun violence” grants. The largest single grant is $650,000 to MAIG, but the largest amount of money granted to a single organization totaled $790,000 to “The New Venture Fund,” listed at 734 15th Street, NW; Washington, DC 20005.

As I recall, that address is a short walk from the White House, in the heart of the Capitol. One of a number of nondescript buildings with some of the highest rents in the District. And a very nice place for a high powered lobbying group. And this “fund” has a very nice web site that seems to have little to do with either gun violence or lobbying.

The New Venture Fund web page says, in part “The New Venture Fund for Global Development enhances the current global development landscape by providing targeted funding to support global development policy, media and advocacy efforts.

Old men have long ears, of course. From the bits and pieces I hear, this lobbying and funding group is mixed up in several things. None of them good from a freedom standpoint.

So we will have to keep our eyes and ears open and be ready to counteract the Joyce Foundation and its client, the New Venture Fund. A lobbying group that almost certainly will be lobbying to get the gun banning UN Small Arms Treaty signed and ratified.

In addition I hear the New Venture Fund has been lobbying on other anti-gun fronts. One of those fronts is to pull support from the American Legislative Exchange Council, the group that provides “pre-written” laws such as Stand Your Ground laws to interested lawmakers and others.

So the New Venture Fund appears to be a new anti-gun lobbying and propaganda group, funded by the almost bottomless pockets of Soros and the Foundations. Well, we have fought such groups in the past. And won.

Lance Orchid is the National Organizing Director at Fund for a Safer Future at New Venture Fund. They received three grants totaling $790,000 from the Joyce Foundation on April 26, 2011 to support messaging research on gun violence and gun policy and to support the development and launch of a new online organization. I was wondering where this money actually went and came across Lance Orchid’s resume. Check out some familiar names.
